Obama speaks on abortion
Yes, I want to talk about it also. Such a hot button debate should not be shied away from. Abortion is too important to this country, to any country, to be ignored. It would be an understatement to describe abortion, as essentially important to our future. President Obama directly addressed the Abortion issue while speaking at Notre Dame University yesterday. Notre Dame presented the President with an honorary degree for Law. The president urged students to find common ground with those who oppose their views on the abortion issue. Obama supports a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion. Obama’s speech was interrupted periodically by protesters.
The President urged the graduates to be understanding and tolerant of those who support opposing views about abortion. He urged debate, discussion, and to find common ground; commendable goals. The President was poised, confident, charismatic, and influential as ever. The crowd swooned to his words and opened their hearts to the commander-and-chief. The President was successful in presenting abortion in a moderate view. Sadly, this accomplishment for the President, is a defeat for America’s children.
Every day that goes by, every hour, every second, that a woman has the privileged to have an abortion, more and more of America’s children are prevented from being born. With this speech, the President has classified abortion as not an issue so important that it should be decided as quickly as possible. He wants pro-life advocates to be understanding and cordial to pro-choice supporters. Understanding and pleasantries can and should be expected surrounding minor issues, but controversies as important as abortion should be fought over, tooth and nail. One would not expect a tolerant mindset concerning attacks on the freedom of speech, or religion would they?
Frankly, this was a defensive speech from the President. The President’s views on abortion are wrong, and are not supported by the country. This speech at Notre Dame was done to cast the issue in a different light in hopes the public would be distracted by shiny lights. Instead of focusing on the issue at hand, the President wanted the focus to be shifted toward treating each other pleasantly and with tolerance.
Abortion is a chink in the Presidents political armor that the Republicans have failed to exploit effectively. The right to life is one of the inalienably rights this country was founded on. Yet the president does not hold the view our founding fathers had when drafting the Constitution of the United States. Children are the future of America. Oil and natural gas are not the worlds greatest resource, the children of the world are. Children are not a renewable resource. Each child not given the right to birth is forever destroyed and gone. How many Einsteins, Newtons, Hemingway’s have been lost to the world due to abortion? The child that would eventually be president, find the cure for cancer, develop the next great technology, or change the world as we know it, could have been lost to us today and the future because we gave somebody the right to kill them. America cannot be swayed by the flowery words and ideas of the President concerning abortion. The future of this country, and the world is depending on our ability to not be distracted, even by the leader of the free world. Your children, our children, the children of the world are helpless, and are in need of protection. If we cannot provide them that protection today, then we doom our future.

Abortion is a horrible stain on our nation. It is a stain that erodes at the Christian principles that were put in place when this great nation was founded. Murdering our unborn was not a part of that plan and our nation can never be truly blessed again until we stop killing our unborn children. There is a problem when baby animals are respected and protected moreso than our precious baby humans. God, forgive us, lead us back to you. Lead us back to common sense and a love and respect for LIFE.
