Donald Trump just announced today that Miss California can keep her crown. Why is this a big deal? Well honestly it really should not be. Carrie Prejean, Miss California, failed to win Miss USA recently. The most likely theory was her belief that marriage is between a man and a women. Prejean has been slandered throughout the media, and many have been pushing to have her title stripped from her. Those who wish to have her stripped of her title claim it is because of racy photos she has taken. Absurdly enough, these same critics do not call for other beauty pageant winners to be stripped when they have risqué photos taken. Only Ms. Prejean has been targeted, most likely because of her views on traditional marriage.

The announcement that Prejean will keep her crown has already caused a backlash from media outlets with a variety of nasty comments. Trump did make a very clear and poignant argument that the President of the United States, Barack Obama, holds the view on marriage that Prejean has. Yet the mass media does not attack nor slander the president for his belief.

This is typical hypocritical behavior from the public who is quick to forget and fast to condemn. The first African-American Miss USA was not stripped of her crown when nude photos of her surfaced. Vanessa Williams eventually relinquished her crown voluntarily. Beauty pageant winners frequently take risqué photos for popular magazines such as Maxim, FHM, and GQ. Yet all these women are not stripped of their crown.

The only different between Prejean and these other pageant winners, is that Prejean public stated her support of traditional marriage. This view is supported by the majority of the country and the United States. Even the majority of the population in California supports the traditional view of marriage evident by the recent state wide referendum that defined marriage as between a man and a woman. The mainstream media has given attention to childish bloggers and bigots. The agenda driven media published the childish remarks of ignorant pundits in hopes of influencing the populace. They were unsuccessful this time.

Trump has let wisdom guide his decision today. Those who would argue otherwise are ignorant at best. Many of those who hide behind the freedom of speech to spew their radical views, are often those who attack and slander those who voice opposing opinions.
