Texas Governor’s office budget cut off at the knees

How convenient that so soon after Governor Perry’s remarks about Texas’s right to secede from the union, that his office budget has been nearly drained dry. Funding for the governor’s office has shrunk by 96% since his remarks. Perhap’s Texas’s House Representatives has taken offense to the governors words and has decided to teach him a lesson.

“Cuts to Perry’s budget were proposed by House Democratic caucus chairwoman Jessica Farrar of Houston, who siphoned $4 million away for veterans’ programs, and Rep. John Davis, R-Houston. He took $18.7 million more, for community mental health “crisis services” that try to keep the mentally ill out of jail and emergency rooms. Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, noted that Farrar had seven floor amendments that would sweep funds from Perry’s office or the state-federal office in Washington that he controls.”

It should not sit well with the country that the a state’s legislature would use its powers in such a childish manner. The wise man says “lessons are learned, not taught”, the government has show it does not hold wisdom in high regard. I believe we call this jockeying between the Governor’s office and the states legislature as bipartisanship.
