100 Days of Obama is not enough to decide
It is interesting how the President made a proclamation during his 100 Day press conference that he inherited the large deficit he now has to deal with. The president announced on his campaign trail that he would cut the deficit in half by the time his first term was over.
Spending bills has to be voted on by congress, which he was apart of, up to him being elected president. He oversaw and voted on the very bills that created the deficit he is saying he inherited. The fact of the matter is he helped create the fiscal mess America is dealing with now. It is irresponsible and misdirection to try and convince the American people that his hands were not involved. He voted for and supported the stimulus package which added to the deficit. The Presidents own future plans will cause the deficit to swell. Dedicating 3% of the GDP to research and development of future technology, enacting a Health Care Plan, building High Speed Rail, are all expensive projects; that money will have to come from some where. Proclaiming that the stimulus plan is helping out America is an irresponsible statement. The fact is housing prices are still falling, along with consumer spending, and trade. The economy shrunk at a much faster rate than expected this last quarter. Chrysler is preparing to file for bankruptcy. Newspapers are shutting down their printers left and right. 1.2 million Americans have lost their job since President Obama was elected. It is too early to tell if the stimulus package is working or was even necessary, but it is the perfect time to acknowledge that nobody should be grand standing on their political accomplishment as of yet. There needs to be straight talk, not misleading speeches to help get this great country on the right track. If we cannot expect that out of our President, who can we expect it out of?
